Bookworld.gr now uses Sphinx Search version 2.0 with mySQL 5.1.53 (64bit). Great performance, excellent results! My congratulations to Sphinx team

bookworld.gr is using Sphinx Search Engine

www.bookworld.gr is still under development and we hope to be out really soon. We choose Sphinx Search Engine as Fulltext Search Engine. It provides real fast results on big tables (250.000+ records). It has been compiled SphinxSE for mySQL 5.1.53 (Windows 64bit). If anyone needs the mySQL plugin, please contact me.

Creating airpics.net

We are almost ready to release www.airpics.net. 

Using airpics.gr database as start, we create a new site with more professional interface, more user friendly and improved functionality.

We hope that we'll release our new baby on October, after beta testing period.

BBCode image creation

BBCode is a HTML alternative usually used in phpBB forums. BBCode allows to use a small variety of HTML-link tags inside textareas. Instead of using HTML tags uses [url]http://www.airpics.gr[/url] and [img]a.jpg[/img] for links and images.

For this reason, we create a BBCode compatible code for each photo.

On photo page, you can find a link "Get BBCode for PHPBB forum" that generates BBCode for current photo. Press CTRL + C and you will copy BBCode to clipboard. Then paste it in your phpBB message. You will create a refference link with current photo.

New search option using URL Rewrite

As we have already read in previous articles, you can link search page using various criteria, such as:

Airport (IATA or ICAO code):
http://www.airpics.gr/airport/iata/CFU
http://www.airpics.gr/airport/icao/LGKR

Airline Name (using underscore instead of space):
http://www.airpics.gr/airline/Air_Berlin

Registration number:
http://www.airpics.gr/reg/D-AGEL

Photographer Name (using underscore instead of space):
http://www.airpics.gr/photographer/Vasilis_Porgiazis

Now, you have the option to combine these searches together!
